FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is HEAH: Open Routes for All Learners?

HEAH is a Community Interest Company (CIC) offering holistic education, mentoring, and well-being support for home-educating families and learners navigating school refusal, SEND needs, exclusions, or life transitions. We’re here to create open routes for growth and learning outside traditional systems.

2. What does “Open Routes” mean?

“Open Routes” symbolises flexibility and freedom. We offer alternative, personalised pathways to education and well-being, especially for families who need something different from mainstream schooling.

3. Who can access HEAH services?

We support:

  • Home-educating families
  • Young people unable to access school due to anxiety, SEND, or exclusions
  • Parents and carers looking for wraparound support
  • Professionals referring learners in need of alternative provision

4. Do I need a referral to access HEAH?

Yes. Most of our services are referral-based. You can be referred by a professional (e.g. teacher, social worker, SENCO) or refer yourself by booking a free consultation. This allows us to tailor support based on each learner’s unique needs.

5. Is HEAH a registered school?

No. HEAH is not a school. We offer part-time, unregistered alternative provision and operate within the legal 17-hour weekly limit (15 hours per week). We do not provide full-time education.

6. What types of support do you offer?

Our core services include:

  • Therapeutic mentoring
  • Academic tutoring (functional skills and project-based)
  • Family Fit Club (movement and wellbeing)
  • Family Kitchen (nutrition and cooking)
  • Advocacy and EHCP support
  • Community workshops and life skills programmes

7. Where are sessions delivered?

We use a hybrid delivery model:

  • Online (Zoom or Google Meet)
  • In-person at community spaces in South London
  • Outdoor sessions or walk-and-talks, where suitable
Session location and format are agreed based on learner preference and need.

8. What’s included in the Founding Members Offer?

Our Founding Members receive:

  • 20% lifetime discount on eligible services
  • Free initial mentoring session
  • Priority access to new sessions and limited spaces
  • Early booking privileges
  • Recognition as a key part of our community

Limited to the first 50 families.

9. Is HEAH suitable for neurodivergent learners?

Absolutely. Our approach is inclusive, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed. We create safe, responsive spaces that meet learners where they are—whether they’re autistic, have ADHD, or experience anxiety or sensory differences.

10. How much do services cost?

For professional referrals, costs are discussed directly once a referral is received, with provision carefully tailored to the learner's needs, frequency, and duration.

Home-educating families benefit from subsidised ad-hoc rates and membership packages based on their specific needs.

11. Can I speak to someone before signing up?

Yes. We offer free telephone consultations so you can explore whether HEAH is the right fit for your child or family. Email hello@heah-openroutes.co.uk or use the contact form to book a chat.
