HEAH: Learning Hub Referral-Only Alternative Provision

Supporting Learners Aged 8–16 with Personalised, Part-Time Education

HEAH: Open Routes CIC provides a flexible and therapeutic education offer for learners who are currently out of school, facing challenges within mainstream settings, or navigating complex life circumstances.

Our Learning Hub is a relationship-led, referral-only provision offering up to 15 hours per week of targeted, part-time education. Delivery is small-scale, trauma-informed, and rooted in the belief that every young person deserves access to learning that meets them where they are.

Founded by a registered social worker and qualified educator, HEAH combines professional safeguarding standards with holistic, responsive support. During the initial phase, all delivery is led by founder Shellisha, ensuring consistency, care, and high-quality practice.

What We Offer

  • Up to 15 hours per week, in line with part-time AP guidance
  • Online small group sessions
  • 1:1 in-person support, mentoring, or tuition (home, community, or local library-based)
  • Flexible delivery
  • Embedded Functional English and Maths
  • Creative, therapeutic and embodied approaches to re-engagement
  • Regular attendance tracking, progress reports, and review meetings

Who We Support

We work with children and young people who are:

  • At risk of exclusion or not currently in school
  • Out of school due to anxiety, mental health, medical or behavioural needs
  • Awaiting EHCP decisions, alternative placement, or part-time provision
  • Electively home educated but requiring structured support

Who We Partner With

  • Schools, PRUs, and Virtual Schools
  • Local Authority teams (Inclusion, SEND, EHE, Youth Services)
  • Alternative Provision commissioners and professionals
  • Families acting under local authority guidance

Our Approach

HEAH is trauma-informed, coaching-led, and designed to reduce pressure while re-igniting curiosity. We understand the challenges faced by young people who’ve disengaged from education—and we know the pressures that schools and services face too.

Whether a learner needs short-term re-engagement, transitional support, or a part-time pathway, HEAH: Learning Hub offers a safe, consistent environment for rebuilding skills, confidence, and trust.

Pricing & Placement Arrangements

We create bespoke programmes based on:

  • The level of need (e.g. 1:1 tuition, mentoring, or small group work)
  • Delivery mode (in-person, online, or hybrid)
  • Session length and frequency
  • Location and staffing requirements

Pricing is tailored and agreed at the point of referral.

Referral-Only Enrolment

We work exclusively on a referral basis, with pathways designed in close consultation with referring professionals. Placements are limited to ensure quality and continuity.
